The pandemic was a very difficult time for everyone.  There were many uncertainties, leading to an overload of fear, stress and anxiety.  Many familiar things were quickly changed and everyone had to adjust.  This was emotionally traumatizing for many, especially children.  Connecting back to a new normal can be challenging and Bodhi Mind and Body Wellness Center is pleased to offer 2 support groups to support the community.  Support groups are usually covered by insurance and will be offered bi-weekly.

Hello, my name is Kelly Ann Smith (she/her) and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in NJ for 15 yrs.  I am also a certified 500 hr yoga teacher and Adjunct Professor.  I have worked in a variety of settings with both individuals and adolescents.  I obtained my Bachelor's degree from NYU and Master's degree in Social Work from Monmouth University.  I have a passion for teaching and I enjoy facilitating presentations, webinars and teaching college courses where I can help others learn and grow.

My approach to therapy is cognitive and mindfulness based as well as trauma-informed.  I have worked in a variety of settings, such as in-home, hospital-based and out-patient, utilizing various techniques and approaches such as traditional psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, brief solution-focused therapy and empowerment approaches.

My personal journey led me to the practice of yoga and meditation where I developed an interest in incorporating these aspects of healing into my practice and approach to helping others heal as well.  As a result, I wanted to create a space for clients where they have the opportunity to engage in both mind and movement strategies if they choose.

I strive to help clients feel safe and to find strategies that work for them, not only for managing stress and anxiety, but also for personal growth.
